The holiday season is officially in full swing, and Central Texas is shining brighter than ever. Whether you're looking for family-friendly experiences, festive community traditions, or holiday markets filled with unique finds, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy December across our region.
From Austin to the Hill Country and every charming town in between, here’s a curated look at the season’s best celebrations—perfect for creating memories with loved ones or discovering new holiday traditions.
Family & Community Festivities Across Central Texas
The heart of the holiday season is gathering as a community, and Central Texas offers some of the most spirited events for families, friends, and neighbors.
Enjoy a self-paced wine-tasting adventure with The Christmas Wine Affair, featuring more than 50 Hill Country wineries participating in a seasonal trail that stretches for weeks. For a more nostalgic experience, climb aboard the North Pole Flyer Train Ride, a two-hour journey filled with hot chocolate, storytelling, and a visit from Santa himself.
For those who love a mix of movement and movie magic, the Elf Pub Run & Movie Screening brings together fitness, fun, and a holiday classic at The Paramount. Or head to Cedar Park for the Tree Lighting & Lakeline Night, where carriage rides, music, and the city’s iconic historic tree set the perfect festive backdrop.
San Marcos transforms into a wonderland with Sights & Sounds of Christmas, a multi-day celebration offering carnival rides, live entertainment, food, and family activities. Meanwhile, Round Rock’s Light Up the Lake illuminates Old Settler’s Park with twinkling lights, crafts, and lakeside cheer.
Small-town holiday charm takes center stage with Budafest in Buda, Christmas on Mercer Street in Dripping Springs, and the Leander Old Town Christmas Festival—each offering Santa visits, treats, local vendors, and community spirit at its finest. And of course, Austin’s own Holiday Downtown Stroll invites you to enjoy live music, vendors, and festive photo ops on Congress Ave.
Holiday Markets & Shopping
No holiday season is complete without finding the perfect gifts—and Central Texas is home to some of the most vibrant holiday markets in the state.
Start with the iconic Blue Genie Art Bazaar, showcasing more than 200 artists with locally crafted treasures. The Junior League’s “Golden Year” A Christmas Affair 2025 brings over 200 merchants together in support of community programs, making each purchase all the more meaningful.
For a stroll straight out of a storybook, the Candyland Christmas Stroll in Georgetown fills the town square with festive décor, shopping, and entertainment. Rounding out the list is the beloved Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, where art, live music, and unique holiday finds come together for an Austin tradition unlike any other.
