Looking for a reason to get out and enjoy Austin this week? From intimate local sets and tribute bands to major touring artists and community-focused events, there is something happening nearly every night from October 5 through October 11.

Whether you are planning a casual night with friends, searching for a free show, or ready to see one of your favorite artists live, here are a few ways to make the most of the week ahead.

Start the Week With Live Music and Local Legends

Monday brings a mix of piano, blues, and local talent. Catch Floyd Domino & Friends at The Saxon Pub during the Road to HOMEcoming Series, which supports housing assistance for aging Austin musicians. Later that evening, Antone’s hosts a tribute to Lazy Lester featuring Jimmie Vaughan and special guests, while Hole in the Wall offers a free 21+ show with Gus Baldwin, Ian MacDougall, and Jim Campo.

On Tuesday, music fans can choose between Brian Fallon at Mohawk Austin, Jack White at Moody Amphitheater, or Sara Bareilles’ Good Grief Tour at Bass Concert Hall.

Find Your Sound on Wednesday and Thursday

Wednesday’s lineup ranges from high-energy punk and hardcore to singer-songwriter favorites and arena-sized country-pop. SPY, Destiny Bond, Spite House, and Compulsion take the stage at Brushy Street Commons, while Jackie Venson, Blakchyl, and Subpar Snatch bring music and community action together at Radio/East. Kacey Musgraves also brings her Middle of Nowhere Tour to Moody Center with William Beckmann.

Thursday is packed with choices, including the free Festival Weekend Warmup at East End Ballroom featuring local music, giveaways, and vendors. For heavier sounds, catch SPITE, Stick To Your Guns, No Cure, and Vomit Forth at Come and Take It Live. Or head to Hotel Vegas for Post Punk Night, featuring Paper Sister, a Joy Division tribute set, and ’80s karaoke.

Make Friday a Night Out

Friday’s schedule has something for every kind of music fan. Carnifex, Winds of Plague, Mauled, and Future Ghost bring the energy to Come and Take It Live. Prefer familiar classics? In Rainbows and Magnifico will perform Radiohead and Queen favorites at The Far Out Lounge. Tear Dungeon also celebrates an album release at 29th Street Ballroom alongside FLAGS, Gus Baldwin & the Sketch, and Throat Piss.

Keep the Weekend Going

Saturday offers a global and eclectic mix of live music. South Korean indie trio wave to earth performs at ACL Live, while Sahara Lounge hosts Africa Night with a buffet, Afro Jazz, Sahara Allstars, and Zoumountchi. At Hotel Vegas, This Is Lorelei and Colin Miller take over the patio for a 21+ show.

Wrap up the week on Sunday with ELO and ABBA tribute favorites at 29th Street Ballroom. You can also support emerging local performers during Austin Idol Season 2 at Highland Lounge or enjoy Golden Hour Quartet’s free weekly residency at Radio Coffee & Beer.

Austin’s live music scene never slows down, and this week is a reminder of just how much there is to discover. Save your favorite events, invite a friend, and get out to experience the sounds and spaces that make our city special.
